Meltproof Bridal/wedding day make-up by Tina Brocklebank.

Wedding season is in full swing and this weekend is busy, busy.  I am so lucky, I get to meet such lovely people and work in such beautiful venues too!  This weekend I have had 3 weddings on.  Last weekend I had the pleasure of working at The White Heather.  Crystal has got married abroad and had her reception here, so I went to do her make-up for her.  I had met Crystal about 5 years ago when she was a bridesmaid for one of her friends...now, it was her turn!

See the photo below, (photography by James Green.) James is a great photographer and I love working with him, he always produces such great images.  Here I used the fantastic Bobbi Brown Long-wear foundations, as it was so hot! so I had to use long-lasting formulations for both the base and eyes.  I could afford to go quite a bit darker than usual, as Crystal had a great tan!  I could also use much richer shades on the eyes, cheeks and lips, as you can see.  She looked stunning.

I am still loving writing my regular column for the Journal magazine, my next column is all about make-up brushes so keep an eye out for that!

I also have a few other exciting projects up and coming, so I will keep you posted on that too!

Smokey eyes...

Special occasion make-up, etc.

I had another very busy weekend last weekend - I also had the pleasure of doing 2 lovely ladies' special occasion make-ups for an evening wedding reception, as she had got married abroad.  Kelly wanted a Kim Kardashian look so I knew I could really go for it with the make-up and contouring.  I used lots of different products, including Make-up forever, Mac, Bobbi Brown, Louise Young, Tom Ford and Illamasqua, (see photo.)  I also used some beautiful false eyelashes from Mac.

I have another very busy weekend ahead of me again, with 3 weddings on.  Wedding season is in full effect!  I am soon to be travelling to Stoke and also the beautiful Walcott Hall in Alkborough.

I hope you are having a fantastic Summer! I will write a blog soon about meltproof make-up I think!

June make-up column for The Journal magazine, etc.

In my June column this month I talk about how to achieve that lovely, even glow from using the right bronzing products.  It never ceases to amaze me at how many ladies get it wrong, either by having a spray tan that is too dark for them and patchy or going on a sunbed that leaves them red and patchy with uneven areas, also, by using the wrong make-up products to create a bronzed effect.

By using minimal products you can soon look like you have a healthy glow...just in time for Summer, (yes, remember that word?!)Lets hope we get one!

Well, my make-up work has been very busy of late.  Wedding/Prom season is in full effect now so I am really busy creating lots of different looks and having the pleasure of visiting lots of beautiful venues.  My most recent was Wood Hall hotel in Wetherby, Yorkshire...such a beautiful venue to get married.

I am also enjoying using lots of new products.  I am really impressed with the new Bobbi Brown compact Long-wear foundation.  So easy to apply with, again, the right range of shades to choose from that make my job so easy!  The foundation lasts all day too, a must with weddings and special occasions!

Lily Lolo mineral cosmetics...

I am always sent samples to try, whether it be skincare or make-up.  I was intrigued to try the Lily Lolo samples I was sent as the company is based right near me, in Hull...very refreshing to hear!

Vikki Khan of Lily Lolo explains,"Women are more demanding of their makeup today - we want more! We want it to be ethically-sourced, treat our skin well and give gorgeous, fresh-looking coverage. I had these demands myself, and not being able to find the perfect package I created a solution: Lily Lolo, an award winning mineral cosmetics range.   Fast forward a few years and mineral makeup is here to stay. In an era where we demand performance as well as natural ingredients, Lily Lolo makes the perfect choice. It has given customers, makeup artists, celebrities and beauty editors all over the world that 'Eureka!' moment - finally a skin-friendly, non-clogging, natural range that's easy to apply and perfects even the most troubled of complexions.  So it's no wonder our customers are as passionate about it as we are, and I'm always striving to develop the brand even more to fulfil the desires of these loyal devotees. But the basics will remain the same - made in the UK, source the finest natural ingredients, no animal testing (BUAV approved), steer clear of all the harmful and totally unnecessary chemical nasties found in a lot of cosmetics and most of all, affordable for every woman.  Named after my two sisters Lisa and Lorraine, Lily Lolo is a true family business built with love, respect and the latest in mineral makeup technology.  Welcome to our family! Effortless beauty...naturally."

I was impressed with the packaging and ethos of the brand.  It is aimed at women aged 25-40 years old.  I tried the mineral foundation SPF 15 in Buff, it was easy to apply with a little fluffy brush and really evened out my skintone and even covered up a few blemishes...I was very impressed!  I then tried the Pressed eyeshadow duo in Cappucino , the colour pay-off was good and easy to blend.  Throughout the day it did crease a little, however, a primer or cream eyeshadow may help prevent this.

I am looking forward to hearing and seeing more from this make-up range!

Bridal/wedding Make-up artist training in Lincolnshire...

I had the pleasure last week, of doing some Bridal/wedding make-up training for a budding Make-up artist, Emma Knight.  Emma came all the way from Suffolk to train with me and apparently has been a fan of my work for the past 2 years!  Emma has trained with the fantastic Pixiwoo and wanted more of a specialised make-up training in the art of Bridal/wedding make-up.  It was a full day!  We started at 9.30 am and after discussing the aims and objectives of the day we set to work!  I first did a demo on Bridal make-up on a model and then Emma did the same afterwards - I gave lots of encouragement and advice along the way.  We finished at 3.30 p.m.

After lunch I had a mature model booked in and I demonstrated Mother-of-the-Bride make-up and then Emma again, did the same after me.  After this I gave her a run-down on all of my most-used products and lots of tips too!  Emma was very eager to learn and I was very impressed with her willingness to learn.  When Emma arrived back home she wrote the following about me - "I have just returned from a 'Bridal Bootcamp' with the amazing Tina Brocklebank, who has really put me through my paces. Tina has over 23 years experience in this industry so there is nothing she does not know about Bridal make-up. Tina is also a Bobbi Brown guru.  Thank you so much I had a great day and learned A LOT!  I really can't thank you enough, you made everything seem so straight forward and have given me the confidence boost that I really needed."

If you would like some Bridal/wedding make-up artist training, please contact me for further details and I can cater it for your level of skill and requirements.

The Wedding Journal 2013.

Enquiries have been coming in thick and fast and I am very busy at the moment with wedding make-up trials, for Brides, bridesmaids and Mother of the Brides, etc!  I am also very busy with teenage make-up lessons, (however, I only recommend make-up on teenage girls from the age of 16.)  I feel that any younger is not appropriate.  Even the 16 year old girls really need minimal make-up.  Its strange isn't it, we want to look older when we are young then young when we are old!!
Easter was a very busy time for me - I did a lovely wedding in Woodhall Spa and stayed at the beautiful Petwood hotel.  The Bride was getting married at The Dower house hotel, a very beautiful place.  I had 7 ladies make-ups to do...so timings were of the essence!  However, I have managed to do 10 ladies make-ups before in one sitting...so it can be done!
This weekend takes me to the beautiful Wood hall spa and hotel in Wetherby for 5 ladies, I love getting to see all these beautiful old buildings and it is an  honour sharing someones' special day with them.
I have also finally got round to ordering a new personalised make-up chair for my make-up studio...I have wanted one for years!  I will post up a photo soon!  I have also been ordering lots of new make-up for my clients to try from Daniel Sandler, Illamasqua, Shu Uemura and my fave - Bobbi Brown!!  I also love using Louise Young - the smokey eye palette is amazing!
I am also looking forward to doing a day course soon for a make-up artist who has trained with Pixiwoo, she is coming all the way from Suffolk to train with me, and I am looking forward to helping her out and showing her a few tricks of the trade!
Anyway, please feel free to e-mail me with any questions - as you know, I love raving on about make-up!
