makeup kit cleaning

Bobbi Brown make-up obsession...

As a Make-up artist I am constantly updating my make-up kit and keeping up with the trends and changes in new ingredients.  I thought I would give the new Bobbi Brown compact Long-wear foundations a try.  I must say they are fantastic from my point of view, as they are more portable and compact, easier to use and apply. After trying the product on myself I must say, this product is a winner for me and I will certainly be buying more!  It just looks like skin when you put it on with the dry sponge, that comes with it.  This is really good if you have oily skin, not so good if you have dry skin as it is oil-free, however, it stays on all day and you can build up the coverage you want.

I also bought some Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser as with Prom make-ups coming up, teens have good, young skin and just don't need a lot of foundation usually, so a nice sheer base always works well.

I also bought some Bobbi Brown high shimmer lip glosses, (I love Bare sparkle), its a very sparkly, nude gloss, beautiful for Brides.  To add to my collection of blushers I bought the Coral shimmer blush from Bobbi Brown and also some Face oil and the Repair balm which is amazing too, if you have very dry skin.

I am looking forward to doing a wedding tomorrow in Barnetby.  The Bride is after a very dramatic look, (think Beyoncé.)  So I can't wait to be doing a smoky eye and lots of false lashes!

I am also very impressed with the Maybelline Colour Tattoo cream gel eyeshadows, I was watching the amazing Charlotte Tilbury on one of her tutorials and she was using one, I bought 4 as they are gorgeous! and have 24 hour staying power! (but who wants it to stay on for 24 hours?!)

I am looking forward to writing my next article for the Journal magazine, for my regular column.  This time I am going to write about Mature ladies make-up, as I love doing make-up for mature ladies, they just always look so wonderful!  So keep your eyes peeled for some top tips about mature make-up. x

Bobbi Brown pro lip palette, etc

Make-up addict!

Busy week, doing demos at the Grimsby Institute and doing make-up trials too.  I decided to buy the Bobbi Brown Pro Lip palette, (aswell as a few other essentials) for my make-up kit.  This palette is awesome.  Its got a range of 54 shades in it, ranging from very nude/natural to more pinky tones and then more dramatic reds/browns.  I can't wait to use it.  I am also loving using the new Illamasqua masquara in Raven, it is smudge-proof and water resistant (you can cry but you can't swim!), so essential for my Brides.  The photo below is of a make-up test I did for the demo, its lovely I can go back to my creative roots and play around a bit with make-up, and the students are very enthusiastic so it helps.  I am also going to be judging the make-up competition at the college at the end of the month, so I can't wait to see all of the different looks.   I am also getting round to ordering some Daniel Sandler products in to try, so will keep you posted!x

Tina's make-up studio

The Journal, Tinas' makeup column - Creating the perfect canvas...(March 2013.)

I also admire and am inspired by lots of other make-up artists - Sam and Nic Chapman, (Pixiwoo), Lisa Eldridge, Charlotte Tilbury, Rae Morris, Kevyn Aucoin, Alex Box, Polly Osmond (whom I used to go to to college with in London,) Clayre Hemmings, (who I went to college with too, and is an awesome make-up artist.)
I will soon be teaching a new Media make-up course at the Grimsby Institute, which starts in September, which I am very proud to be involved in.  We will be using Illamasqua make-up, (Alex Box is the Creative Director of this brand...and is actually from Grimsby.)  It seems Grimsby has some very creative individuals!  For more information contact Janice Yardley at Grimsby Institute, (Janice will be providing the teaching for the hair part of the course.)
I also created a competition on Facebook to win a make-up session with me.  This attracted hundreds of applicants and some lovely comments and feedback.  It is always nice to hear how people appreciate me and my work...it has taken me long enough!  A lovely lady called Mrs Niblett won and came for a make-up session today, (23rd of Feb.)  I only run these competitions about once a year so keep your eyes peeled! nubo white diamond ice glow mask

NuBo White Diamond Ice-glow mask

I was kindly sent some samples from NuBo and was impressed with what I discovered about the brand (being described as "Pro-beauty high-tech skincare).
This particular product has had rave reviews by beauty editors, so I was intrigued to say the least.
The packaging is very expensive looking with the diamond encrusted lid, however, for £100 (!) this does need to look the business I feel!
I have very dry skin so using something moisturizing is a must.  The cream looked and felt creamy and smelt pleasant, but not too perfumed. First I steamed my face to ensure my pores were open.  I applied a thin layer over my face, but thicker on my neck, (avoiding my eye area - this would become apparent why...!)I left it on for 10 minutes and almost immediately it felt very cold with a numbing sensation, which was wierd but not unpleasant.  I had previously heard about the benefits of using this mask - "Release frown lines/wrinkles, plump the skin, refresh and revitalise, promote a glowing complexion and ease signs of tiredness."  After 10 minutes I rinsed it off with warm water.  The results were not amazing...however, I did feel pampered! and my skin was left soft, a little more plumped and radiant.  The cooling sensations did last for a while after too.  To be honest, I do feel £100 is very steep for a face mask, however, you do get a generous amount in the pot and used regularly, maybe once a week, you would begin to see the effects more.  I will continue to use it so watch this space! thanks for reading x

L'occitane immortelle precious night cream

L'occitane

L'Occitane Immortelle Precious cream - (£42 for 50 ml.)

I love using anything by this brand, although I think this is their star product.  My skin looks its best after using this cream, it is wonderfully hydrating and smells gorgeous too.  My skin is more radiant and youthful looking after using this, any fines lines are less apparent without a doubt so I will definately keep using this! 5/5
Sienna X cream to powder bronzer with illuminator

Sienna X

This duo offers a matte bronzer and highlighter, so great to add a bit of warmth to the skin and is not too orange so looks natural, it has a lovely consistency and is easily blended into the skin, I found working with it best with my fingers applied on the forehead, cheekbones, nose penis enlargement without pills and chin.  You then apply the illumninator on the high points of the face, however,  I found the highlighter not very light reflective and a bit dry.  This is £25 from www.sienna-x.co.uk This is lovely if you want to create a contoured look, but only using the cream to powder bronzer.  I give this product 3/5 as I did not like the smell of the product.

Collin Resultime.

I kindly got sent a mini-facial kit from Collin Resultime, and so set to work using it recently.

Jessica Biel is a big fan of this Parisian skincare brand who specialise in anti-ageing products.

I was impressed with the quality of the ingredients and the packaging too.  I particularly liked the deep cleansing scrub, eye cream and both of the moisturisers - my skin was left smoother and more hydrated...plus I loved pampering myself!  I would definatley recommend these products to all of my clients, particularly if they would like to get their skin to look its best, ready for a special occasion.

Their new website is set to launch 14th of December 2012, so have a look at the website -http://www.collinresultime.co.uk/ and try out these great products, your skin will definatley thank you for it.
