The wedding Journal photo x

January make-up, etc...

I have been asked to write for The Lincoln Journal, so I am very happy to announce I shall be writing a regular monthly column for them, alongside my Lincolnshire Journal column, which will be totally different.  I will be doing a "Look of the month" feature in the Lincoln one and the Lincolnshire one will be focusing more on trends and what I have been up to, and what I recommend product wise.

I have been extremely busy so far this month booking in my clients for their make-up trials and also doing make-up lessons.  I have been busy replying to e-mails and enquiries too, but sadly, I haven't been able to oblige with most of the e-mails, as I have already been booked.  Please remember, if you want to book a reputable make-up artist, then allow at least 2 years to book them in for your wedding day! It may seem too far away to book but I have had to turn so many people away, and I hate not being able to help people!

I have also been busy reviewing some products from various brands and I will be blogging about these very soon, its always great to receive new products to try out.

I also announced the winner of  my Facebook competition, which was Jo Snook, and she won over £100 of make-up products! so keep your eyes peeled for further competitions!  I was lucky enough to win a competition myself by the way...I won some beautiful Maggie Hunt make-up brushes, I never usually win anything! so I was amazed! Maggie is a make-up legend and is such a lovely, kind lady too.  I am honoured to be in touch with her.

I am also planning a trip to London soon to visit lots of art galleries to inspire me so I am really excited about that, I also hope to meet up with lots of my friends who I went to The London College of Fashion with over 20 years ago!

I am also busy planning a day make-up workshop for a lady wanting to train in make-up, at the end of this month, so its all go!  She is coming from Basingstoke to train with me.

Thanks for reading my blog and please get in touch if you need any advice or help with anything make-up related!x

Bobbi Brown tweet!

Bobbi Brown tweet!

I have been a huge fan of Bobbi Brown for over 17 years and fell in love with the brand. I used to work for Bobbi in Nottingham, (I was trained by them in London too.)  I am a little obsessed! I loved getting a tweet from Bobbi herself....

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

Well, 2014 is drawing to an end, and what a year it has been...where has it gone?!  I have met some wonderful people this past year and had the pleasure of working with some great people too.

I am really looking forward to relaxing over Christmas with my family...and taking time out to try out some new make-up of course!

Next year looks to be another very busy one for me, there's very limited availability now, with bookings being taken for 2016 too already.   I do work nationwide so I have taken on work in Bedfordshire, Selby and Hampshire so far for next year - I love seeing all the different locations people choose for their weddings.

I am going to be introducing lots of new make-up lessons so I aim to concentrate on that next year, there are also some other new exciting projects in the pipe-line.  I have also been asked to write a column for the Lincoln Journal alongside my column in the Lincolnshire Journal, which I love doing, so please get in touch if there is anything you would like me to cover - tina@tinabrocklebank.co.uk

I would like to wish my customers and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - here's to a happy and healthy and 2015! xxx

Make-up by Tina Brocklebank Make-up artist

Bridal Couture shoot, Make-up by Tina Brocklebank Make-up artist.

Recently I have had the pleasure of working with wonderful creative people.  I worked with the amazing Joanna Chafer of Joanna-Leigh Couture in Brigg, and my goodness, her designs are second to none and the attention to detail is astonishing!

Siana Hemmings was our beautiful model for the day, (Miss Lincolnshire) and I think you will agree, she looks amazing and is such a professional lady to work with, (and very funny too!)

Our inspiration was of course Joannas' beautiful gowns and when we saw a Victorian design, we all agreed this was the way forward for us to go, therefore, we incorporated a real Victorian, sophisticated feel to our shoot.

Regarding make-up - I wanted to show a nod to this era but still making the make-up look timelessly elegant.  The fashion was to have a very pale face, but I just turned it up a notch and warmed up the skin. To prep the skin I used This works in transit camera close-up moisturiser and primer to create a beautiful base to work on.  I then used Bobbi Brown Long-wear even finish foundation, a touch of corrector and concealer where needed and finished with Bobbi Brown sheer finish loose powder.  For eyes, I used Bobbi Brown brow palette in the shade Saddle.  On the whole eye area I used Long-wear cream eyeshadow in Ballet pink and then Illamasqua cream pigments in Androgen, Emerge and Delerium, taking the lilac-y shade underneath the eyes and blending very well.  The whole face had to be powdered very well to create a lovely matte effect.  I then used Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow in Bone as a highlighter.  To define the lashline, I used Black track gel liner by MAC and then applied some of their false lash mascara.  I then added some beautiful false lashes from Red cherry which had to be wispy and beautiful.

For cheeks - I contoured slightly with a brown eyeshadow and then added a bright pop of blush, only on the apples of the cheeks to create a Victorian feel to it, I used Peony blush by Bobbi Brown and blended well with a Real Techniques blusher brush, (I love these brushes by the way, they are lovely to work with.)

For lips, I mixed my own colour to reflect the gorgeous shades that Jo and Sophie had created in their bouquets, which were a stunning range of reds, crimsons and burgundys.  Firstly, I applied a lip pencil by Bobbi Brown in Sangria and then mixed 2 lip colours from my Bobbi Brown pro lip palette in Chocolate and Black berry. I then applied a Bobbi Brown crystal lip gloss, which has gold flecks in it.

We all had such a fantastic day.  Tracy Conway-Smith took the photographs and they look amazing so far, so I can't wait to see the rest!  The flowers were designed and made by Sophie and Jo at The Wedding and Flower Boutique, which were so creative and just beautiful!  Hair was done by the wonderful Claire Snowden hairdresser.

Watch this space for more photos from our beautiful Bridal couture shoot!

Just to remind you, I am nearly booked up for next year now and taking bookings for 2016, so please get in touch to check availability.  Tina x

Make-up artist - my new make-up kit must haves!

Well, straight back into work mode from my holiday in Greece and its been full on!

I've been working on an exciting new shoot coming soon, for a very talented Bridal couture designer and I can't wait to be able to tell you all about it and show you the photos...watch this space!

I have also been updating my kit, (yes, I am addicted.)  Although I use mainly Bobbi Brown for my clients, I also like sampling new products and I was very impressed to try out some Red Cherry false lashes, ordered from the excellent www.falselashes.co.uk website, I also ordered some Katy Perry lashes, which are a dupe of some beautiful Shu Uemura false lashes.

I have also been trying out some Embryolisse products - and the BB cream Artist secret is just out of this world! - I ordered a new Zuca pro from here too, and it is fantastic, (photos to follow.)  The BB cream is full of great ingredients, and I have been rather run down recently as I have had a bad cold, (so I needed a miracle!) and this was the right product.  It evened out my skin tone, and created almost like a magic veil! (cheesy I know!), but it did actually make me look so much better.  I ordered this from the wonderful Tilt cosmetics - www.tiltmakeup.com and I cant recommend them enough.)

I have lots of exciting new projects coming up, which I will be able to share with you soon.  3 weddings on this weekend,(from Friday onwards). I forgot to mention, I worked with the fabulous Tommy Turgoose, who is from Grimsby, like me, (he stars in This is England and is such a talented actor, and very funny and down to earth too...the next series is being filmed in Sheffield, so cant wait to see that.)

Heres a few snaps, but will blog again soon and update further! (the thank-you card at the bottom, was from a lovely Bride of mine, who I had the pleasure of working with recently.  I love receiving thank-you cards and helping ladies make their wedding days even more special.) x
